Jazz Festival Gigs Announced
The Ribble Vallay Jazz Festival moves from the previous committment of a wider programme of all jazz styles, and from top UK and international artists.
This year it focuses on a specialist showcase of artists, and artists from the nearby local North West circuit.
Most are from last year’s Manchester Jazz Festival, last year’s Darwen Jazz and Blues Festival and Beat-Herder in Sawley.
They will be performing their specialist, progressive and new self-penned works, embracing funky psychedelic modal jazz, bass heavy dub grooves, reggae and blues.
Clare Teal, 2005 British vocalist of the year, and radio presenter of some note is this year’s headline act on the Sunday, performing some jazz standards, though some originals and contemporary covers as well as jazz.
The youth bands, St Christopher's School Band and John Wickham Band appear for the third year running, as does Paul Rigby leading the Blackburn Youth Jazz Band. Further local support will appear at The Atrium. If you book both tickets you'll get a discount.
Look out for other ticket bargains.
