Big Bands
For some time there has been a growing demand for more big band concerts. The big band concerts we have arranged in the past have been a sell out.
So, due to this popular demand, we have organised a series of big band concerts at the multi-million pound state of the art venue of The Grand in Clitheroe.
Concerts will be held on a Sunday lunchtime. There will be food and drink from the licenced bar available from 12.00 midday, and the music will start at 1.00pm.
Cabaret table style seating is available for diners to replicate the big band era, and provide an enjoyable social experience.
All in all, an event of good food, drink, music and fun.

WIGAN YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The nationally recognised Wigan Jazz Club present's its talented Youth Jazz Orchestra - Directed by Dr Ian Darrington MBE, top class big band music.
RVJ&B's season of BIG BAND LUNCHES - organised in association with the Grand - continues by presenting the best in North West big band jazz when Dr Ian Darrington brings his much coveted Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra for their first appearance in Clltheroe's top class Arts & Music Venue. Enjoy a Sunday two course lunch alongside a chance to listen to a team of talented young jazz musicians from the internationally acclaimed Wigan Jazz Club.

LEEDS COLLEGE BIG BAND
RVJ&B's BIG BAND LUNCH programme - organised in association with the Grand - sees a pre-Christmas appearance of the fine LEEDS COLLEGE BIG BAND lead by Simon Barnes. Leeds College of Music is widely recognised as one of the best music colleges for jazz music in the UK. (Alan Barnes is a former student!).
The Leeds College of Music Big Band was formed in 1984 by Al Wood and has gone from strength to strength. Now under the direction of Simon Barnes, they have recently performed at the Great North Big Band Festival with enormous success, winning the Open Section and receiving the Adjudicators’ Special Prize for the Rhythm Section, and ‘Best Section’ for the Saxophone Section.
Simon is busy as a trumpet lecturer and band director. He has been a member of staff at Leeds College of Music since 1998 and leads workshops in jazz trumpet and big band playing, around the country but still finds time to work as a trumpet player, working at Granada TV on shows like Stars in Their Eyes and Soapstar Superstar and, most recently, the Royal Variety Show for ITV.
This will be the band's first appearance in Clltheroe. Enjoy a Sunday two course lunch with a chance to listen to a team of talented & experienced young jazz musicians, many of whom will be heading for the big time!
